Francine Vis

The Dutch mezzo-soprano Francine Vis studied with Valérie Guillorit at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she received her master diploma with distinction in June 2009. Francine Vis will in spring 2013 finish her studies with Professor Kirsten Buhl Møller at the Danish Royal Opera Academy. For these studies she received scholarships from the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds: the Aafje Heynis Fonds, the Gulberg Fonds and the Romke Kalma Fonds. She took part in masterclasses with amongst others Udo Reinemann, Felicity Palmer, Malcolm Martineau, Diane Montague, Barbara Hannigan and Fiona MacSherry. Francine Vis had her debut at the Danish Royal Opera as Flora in Verdi’s La Traviata in 2012. She sang the part of Mercedes in Bizet’s Carmen in the same theatre in 2013. Francine Vis frequently performs with VocaalLAB Nederland, a vocal workshop for contemporary music, both theatrical and concert performances, under guidance of Romain Bischoff. In 2011 she sang the part of Amore in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea at The Royal Danish Opera Academy and the part of the Squirrel in Richard Ayres’ opera The Cricket Recovers, directed by Pierre Audi, for the Holland Festival 2011. In fall 2011 she sang as a soloist with the Danish Athelas Ensemble for contemporary music. She will perform again with Athelas Ensemble in spring 2013.
