This year the GrachtenfestivalPrijs will be awarded for the tenth time. The nominees are: the Amatis Piano Trio, soprano Laetitia Gerards and pianist Sophiko Simsive.
For the GrachtenfestivalPrijs the jury of classical music journalists Frederike Berntsen (Trouw), Floris Don (NRC Handelsblad), Biella Luttmer (De Volkskrant) and Thiemo Wind (freelance music journalist) nominate musicians and ensembles who/which excel in their field of expertise. Being nominated has proven to be an important stimulus for a career. Thus, a nomination is a prize in itself.
Having followed the nominees for a year, the jury then awards the GrachtenfestivalPrijs to the most outstanding musician or ensemble, thus handing out a ‘carte blanche’ to the winner to put together a versatile and challenging programme as Artist in Residence.
During the festive evening of the GrachtenfestivalPrijs, the Grachtenfestival will present the nominees, all of whom will perform. Your host is NPO Radio 4-presentor Hans Haffmans. Toward the end of the evening, the winner will be announced. All of the nominees can be seen and heard during the festival in the series Meesterlijk!
Former winners are: Mathieu van Bellen (violin, 2015), Rosanne van Sandwijk (mezzo-soprano, 2014), Remy van Kesteren (harp, 2013), duo Sax & Stix (saxophone & percussion, 2012), Karin Strobos (mezzo-soprano, 2011), Judith van Wanroij (soprano, 2010), duo Izhar Elias & Erik Bosgraaf (guitar and recorder, 2009), Lisa Jacobs (violin, 2008) and Ties Mellema (saxophone, 2007).
