Het Amatis Trio werd in 2013 in Amsterdam gevormd. De Duitse violiste Lea Hausmann, Britse cellist Samuel Shepherd en Nederlands-Chinese pianist Mengjie Han worden geprezen voor hun energie, inzicht, creativiteit, communicatie en passie. Het trio wordt gezien als een van de meest toonaangevende ensembles van deze generatie, en werd uitgeroepen tot ‘Artists to Watch’ door Gramophone Magazine.
Ze hebben opgetreden in 43 landen over 5 continenten, en hebben vele internationale prijzen en accolades in de wacht gesleept. Ze zijn voormalig BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists en werden geselecteerd voor ECHO Rising Stars (European Concert Hall Organisation) door de Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Keulen Philharmonie, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden en Dortmund Konzerthaus. Het trio heeft een paar van de meest prestigieuze muziek prijzen in de wacht gesleept, zoals de Kersjesprijs en de Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship prijs in Engeland.
Naast optredens in ’s werelds grootste festivals als de BBC Proms, Verbier Festival en Edinburgh International Festival, wordt het trio regelmatig uitgenodigd als solisten in het triple concert repertoire, met samenwerkingen met de Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Wales en de Frankfurter Museumsorchester. Op het huidige moment zijn zij Artists in Residence aan de Cambridge University, Groot-Brittannië.
Beiden Lea en Sam spelen op instrumenten van de maker Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, in bruikleen gesteld door de Beares International Violin Society.

The Amatis Trio has performed in 43 countries across five continents, and has won many major international competitions and awards. In addition to performances at many of the world’s leading festivals, including the BBC Proms, Verbier Festival, and the Edinburgh International Festival, the trio are regularly invited as soloists in triple concerto repertoire, appearing with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic, BBC Wales, and Frankfurt Museums Orchestra. They are currently Artists in Residence at Cambridge University, UK.
Both Lea and Sam play on very fine Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume instruments, kindly loaned by generous patrons through the Beares International Violin Society.
