Founded in 2003 as the Stichting Koper van het Concertgebouworkest (Foundation Brass of the Concertgebouw Orchestra), the brass players have set themselves the task to acquaint the public and music students with the versatility of brass instruments, both in repertory and in instrumentation, by giving concerts and masterclasses at a high level. The instrumentation can vary from a quartet to about 20 musicians, sometimes supplemented by percussionists.
Since their inception, the Brass of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra have given a number of concerts both at home and abroad. With a programme including the Danse Bacchanale by Saint-Saëns being played on the pontoon in front of the Compagnietheater, we could not wish for a more wonderful finale to the festival!
