Over Orpheus is a pas de deux between Pieter van Loenen (violin) and Frederik Kaijser (dance). Orpheus refuses to accept his Eurydice is lost forever. He descends into the underworld to get her back but when he looks over his shoulder, he sees his love fade away into the realm of the dead. Pieter and Frederik play the four parts of Bartók’s Solosonate for violin and the Chaconne by Bach to tell this legendary story about mourning and loss. It’s a performance about denial, rage, despair, and acceptation based on the tragedy of Orpheus and Eurydice.
Over Orpheus vindt plaats in het nieuwe CC Amstel, dat nog in aanbouw is, maar speciaal voor het Grachtenfestival alvast een dag de deuren opent!
