Two days of classical music, jazz, and world music on the waters around Nieuwmarkt

On stage #1 the Thomas Dulfer Trio will perform on 13 August. Thomas Dulfer studied bassoon with Bram van Sambeek and he has won several prizes. The audience can look forward to an afternoon with three brief concerts. Sunday 14 August the pontoon is booked for the Furore Blaaskwintet. The young musicians met while studying at Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag and Codarts Rotterdam.

The pontoon cum stage #2 is booked for jazz. Watch the Cleaver/ Kuhne/Klaassen Trio perform here on Saturday afternoon, a trio with a remarkable line-up of trumpet, drum and bass, and an open sound. On Sunday afternoon the audience can marvel at the Gideon Tazelaar Trio, a trio inspired by the great orchestrator and jazz pianist Duke Ellington and they’ll show it.

World music is on the program for stage #3. On Saturday afternoon the audience can enjoy the performance of TotinConSoda Trio on the pontoon. This trio plays a wonderful tango on the Amsterdamse Zwanenburgwal. Sunday afternoon will be Oscar Antoli Trio’s turn. This trio performs music from the Balkans and Turkish Ottoman folk music.

The concert series Toekomstmuziek will be gloriously completed by Jong Metropole on Saturday and ZO! Gospel Choir & Shirma Rouse on Sunday. In Jong Metropole the best of a variety of musical worlds will come together: the virtuoso play of the classic string tradition with swing, improvising, and timing from the jazz tradition. Shirma Rouse needs no further introduction. Together with ZO! Gospel Choir she’ll bring the Toekomstmuziekweekend to a swinging end.
