The Purmerplein in Amsterdam-Noord is a public square in the village of Nieuwendam, which since 1921 belongs to the city of Amsterdam. The Purmerplein forms the center of Tuindorp Nieuwendam, an extension district with mainly working-class houses that were built between 1924 and 1934 under the direction of the Gemeentelijke Woningdienst Amsterdam (city housing).
