Scheepvaartmuseum

Kattenburgerplein 1 1001 MK Amsterdam

This monumental building from 1656 was designed by Daniel Stalpaert as a warehouse for the Admiralty of Amsterdam. The Zeemagazijn (sea warehouse) was built during the Golden Age, when Amsterdam was the largest port in the world. The city was called the "warehouse of the world": conceivable goods from all over the world were for sale in Amsterdam. Now, more than 350 years later, the Zeemagazijn is still an impressive building with a lot of character that breathes history.

 The Scheepvaartmuseum is wheelchair accessible.
