Singer and violonist Müge Alpay adds the traditional music from her home country, Turkey, to the jazz tradition of the West. In 2001 she moved from Istanbul to Rotterdam to study at the Codarts conservatorium. Together with her ensemble of musicians with traditional instruments such as kemençhe, kanun, and darbuka, they will play the kind of music that will sound like an Expedition to our western ears.
The concert will be held at the YunusEmre Instituut, which aims at promoting Turkish language, culture and arts. The Dutch office was opened early this year in Amsterdam.
