A very old Donkey, a fat lazy Cat and a stressed out Chicken are so fed up with their boss that they run away. But how to survive on your own? They are lucky enough to bump into each other and decide to go for the big city and form a band!
The big city is far away and their journey turns out to be a thrilling adventure. Will they reach the city and become famous? The musical performance is narrated and played by three young musicians with a trombone, a saxophone and a flute, which is a wonderful way for children to get acquainted with classical music.
On Saturday 11 February 2017 De OpMaat was held for the third time in the NedPho-Koepel in Amsterdam. OpMaat offers young musicians an excellent opportunity to pitch their ideas for Grachtenfestival concerts. Fourteen contenders pitched their ideas in three categories: the theme of the Grachtenfestival 2017 (In Stijl), a remarkable venue at the Grachtenfestival 2017 (Odean, Supperclub), and a performance at the Junior Grachtenfestival.
This ensemble won the Grachtenfestival Pitch in the category ‘Oorkaan’. The performance was developed further under the intensive guidance by Oorkaan, specialist in the field of theatrical concerts for a very young audience. ‘Oorkaan feels that all children should have access to classical music. By presenting theatrical concerts in inspiring and enticing ways, tickling the ears and the creative mind of children.
