To mark the occasion, 12 vastly different composers were each asked to produce a new work this year especially for the COMPOSERS' DINNER. For their inspiration they look to the spectrum of sounds of daily life – to items of everyday use on the street, in homes, shops and buildings, as diverse as the doorbell, the bathtub, cutlery, bicycles, sirens, car horns, the mayor's hammer and the myriad other devices that set the tone of our living environment. Through their creations, the composers will lead us in a rebellion against the soundscape of our day.
