What is the Grachtenfestival

Every August, the Grachtenfestival is held for ten days. The summer festival for classical music, jazz and music from other cultures. In doing so, the city of Amsterdam, from east to west and from north to south, serves as the backdrop. Throughout the city, the Grachtenfestival brings the most wonderful music and performances.

In 2024, the Grachtenfestival took place for the 27th time, from August 23 to September 1. Each year the festival has a theme, and in 2024 it was: Metamorphosis.

Again this year, the program consisted of different styles of music: classical, jazz and world music at the most beautiful and unique locations in and around Amsterdam.

Once again the Tolhuistuin is the heart of the festival
Festive opening at the Tolhuistuin with no less than 3 free concerts
From August 24 to 31, every day at 17:00 NPO Klassiek broadcasts the radio program EarBites with Beitske de Jong.
The youngest musicians perform at people's homes in the HTDs (House, Garden and Roof Terrace Concerts) 
Concerts especially for children at the Junior Grachtenfestival 
The nominee for the Grachtenfestival Prize in the Meesterlijk!
Artist Residence (Joost Willemze) was given carte blanche and put together a special program.
Four jazz talents in Jazz Gems were given all the space they needed to put together their dream concert.
On the last day of the festival there were 4 free concerts in the Oosterpark
