In Jong Talent in the Oude Wester, several laureates of the Princess Christina Competition play in the iconic Westerkerk in Amsterdam. Together with Evan Bogerd, the organist of the Westerkerk, a young talent plays a varied program of solo pieces and pieces played together with the organ.
Today it's Pouya Izimi's turn; a young talented violinist currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire. He won several competitions and has already gained a lot of experience in giving concerts. Pouya brings a diverse program with passion and emotion. His virtuosity and sense of music will undoubtedly impress.
Pouya is a young musician who started violin lessons at the age of 9 with Jasmijn Rais. He soon caught the eye at a neighborhood concert at the Theater Dakota, where he gave a beautiful solo performance. A year later, Pouya was admitted to the Young Talent Program of the Royal Conservatoire. There he started with Kerstin Hoelen and has been studying with Ilona Sie Dhian Ho since 2020.
Pouya already has many successful participations in competitions to his name. In 2019, for example, he won second prize and the Audience Award in the Kleine Zaal of De Doelen during the regional finals west of the Princess Christina Competition. In 2023 he even reached the national semi-final of this competition.
Pouya has also gained a lot of experience on stage. He played solo with Domestica (with strings from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra) in the Laurenskerk Rotterdam and was invited to perform at the opening concert of the Stringtime Niederrhein festival in Germany. Pouya also reached the finals of the Persia's Got Talent program and made a television appearance as a soloist in Vivaldi's Summer.
Pouya is also active in following numerous courses in France and Germany. He is a permanent member of the Atheneum Chamber Orchestra and toured Switzerland with this orchestra. Besides playing the violin, Pouya is also skilled in playing the piano and tennis. At the moment he is in 5 VWO of the School for Young Talent in The Hague.
