Grachtenfestival Launches with the Roaring Cats! This unique band full of energy will release their debut album this year, reason enough to offer them a stage in the heart of the Grachtenfestival, the Rode Hoed. They turn every show into a true jazz spectacle. If one thing is certain, it is that the audience is always entertained and rarely sits down during concerts of the Roaring Cats!
The band recently collaborated with dancer Helena Kanini Kiiru, who accepted the challenge to create an exciting new collaboration within the roots of jazz. With Helena, they melt different identities and art disciplines together into one show. The eclectic choreographies of the dancer give the virtuoso arrangements and improvisations a new color and together they form an entertaining spectacle!
Frontman Sam Ghezzi follows in the footsteps of Cab Calloway and many other icons of the early 20th century while singing and conducting. He also has loose hips to assist Helena Kanini's choreographies.
