"In this wonderful and beautiful show by Trio Salome, we explore the different parts of the day through the eye of different composers."
We break the ice with an Aubade. Written in 1899 by George Enescu, violin virtuoso and later genius composer. This particular piece of music is generally considered a love song that accompanies a morning farewell between lovers. Between the dawn and the interlude Franz Schubert's beautiful one-movement string trio. Schubert began the first movement in 1816 and did not finish it until 1890. The second movement remained unfinished, which is why we play this one movement. Next comes Kodály's Intermezzo (1905) which we can think of as the afternoon of the day. The music stems from genuine Hungarian folk music. Kodaly, along with Bartok, is one of the most famous Hungarian composers of his time. This interlude is the perfect prelude to the next piece on the program: Dohnányi's Serenade in C major, written in 1902. Originally a musical greeting to a loved one, the serenade later became actual instrumental music, light in style and intended as evening music. This piece is late romantic, heartwarmingly romantic and strong".
