During Ramon van Engelenhoven's concert, the piano transcription will take center stage. First, two famous orchestral works will start, beginning with Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune in a recent arrangement by Russian pianist Vyacheslev Gryaznov. Next we hear perhaps the most famous piano arrangement ever written: Liszt's version of Wagner's "Liebestod" from "Tristan and Isolde. Finally, we move from opera to film with music by Erich Korngold, a composer who initially caused a furore as a child prodigy in European opera houses and who was later regarded as one of the founders of film music in America. A suite with music from the film the 'The Sea Hawk', composed and arranged by Ramon van Engelenhoven himself is part of a new CD-project.
Ramon van Engelenhoven (1995) completed his Master Classical Piano at the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2019 with a 10 grade.
From a young age he has won awards at several competitions, including first place at the International Steinway Piano Competition (2012) and first place at the Prinses Christina Concours (2013). In 2015, Ramon won the Grand Final of the Young Pianist Foundation Competition. As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras such as the Philharmonie Südwestfalen, the Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Phion (Orchestra of Gelderland), and the North Netherlands Orchestra.
