Wiesje Nuiver

Wiesje (1989) plays chamber music in various ensembles, like her violin-guitar duo with Martijn Buijnsters, and got a job in 2017 in the Residentie Orkest where she played with pleasure for a year. Since May 2018 she plays as 2nd co-principal of the second violins in the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.

At the age of nine she started violin lessons with Petra Westra. After this, she continued her violin lessons with Coosje Wijzenbeek, after which she studied with Vera Beths during her Bachelor's in conservatory study in Amsterdam and obtained her diploma in 2012.

Wiesje also studied with Vera Beths during her master's studies in The Hague, and as well took lessons from Philippe Graffin and Lucy van Dael. At the same time she followed a master internship program at the Residentie Orkest.

Wiesje was from 2012 to 2014 a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester where she played under the direction of top conductors such as Daniele Gatti and Philippe Jordan. She won first prizes at the Princess Christina Competition and the International Charles Hennen Chamber Music Competition.

The National Musical Instruments Fund has provided her with a Cuypers violin from 1768.
