Seán Morgan-Rooney

Seán Morgan-Rooney is currently one of Ireland's most promising piano talents. As a soloist, he has played with all major Irish orchestras, including the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Camerata Ireland Orchestra and the Ulster Orchestra. As a chamber musician, he has played with various ensembles in Ireland, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, including the Hard Rain Ensemble, one of the most prominent ensembles for contemporary music in the United Kingdom.

Seán completed his undergraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied with Professor Christopher Elton. He finished his bachelor with the highest possible distinction. Before his bachelor's degree in London, he studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin under supervision of John O'Conor. In 2019 Seán completed his master's degree at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with David Kuyken.

Seán has received several awards for his performance, including the Charles J. Brennan Prize at the 10th Dublin International Piano Competition, the Else Cross Prize for Contemporary Music, presented by the Royal Academy of Music, and a BBC NI Young Musicians' Platform Award. In addition, he was a piano finalist for BBC Young Musician of the Year. Last but not least, Seán became Dutch Classical Talent Finalist for the 2020/21 season.
