Oriol Marès 1998 is a clarinetist born in Barcelona and based in Rotterdam. Improvisation, enthusiasm and authenticity are the main forces which are embodied in every step he takes in his musical career. Through Latin music, he searches for uncharted territories of his artistic scope.
He graduated with a Cum Laude in Codarts University, under the guidance of Alex Simu. He has played with the Ricciotti Orchestra and Amsterdam Klezmer Band, performing in the Czech Republic, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. He has also collaborated with the artist Antoni Miralda, in Santa Eulàlia 175 and the Sant Stomak project for the El Bulli 1846. He recently received the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds scholarship to continue his musical career in a trip to Cuba. He is the co-founder of Cinco en Clave, with whom he recorded for NPO, Talal Fayad & Oriol Marès, and Eruga Quintet. This season he has been touring with Yara's Wedding, a project with Asko|Schönberg, Club Guy & Roni, Slagwerk Den Haag (NITE) and Schauspiel Hannover.
