Mario Sarrechia

The Belgian harpsichordist Mario Sarrechia (1988) has for many years focused on performing and bringing attention to keyboard music from the Low Countries. His expertise in this field yielded a solo CD with music from the Susanne of Soldt manuscript, among others. He also gave several concerts with this music in which he told the audience about the instrument, time and music. He was also allowed to give lectures on this subject at the University of Cambridge and during conferences in the Museum Vleeshuis (Antwerp). After Mario Sarrechia graduated with great distinction at the Royal Flemish Music Conservatory in Antwerp, he continued his studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Bob van Asperen and Menno van Delft, among others. He attended many master classes, including with the renowned Dutch harpsichordist Gustav Leonhardt. After his studies, he became associated with the famous baroque ensemble La Petite Bande by Sigiswald Kuijken. He made several CD recordings with them. He is also a sought-after continuo player and soloist and has performed in large venues and festivals in Europe and Japan. Mario Sarrechia lives in Amsterdam and, in addition to his activities as a professional musician, also teaches music theory at the Hogeschool Leiden.
