Japanese Mezzo-soprano Maria Koshiishi earned her bachelor’s degree (March 2017) and master’s degree (March 2019) in classical singing at Tokyo University of the Arts. During the bachelor’s education she started performing regularly with Bach Collegium Japan. As a soloist she has sung in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Mendelssohn’s Paulus and Ellias, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Stravinsky’s Les Noces, Bach’s Messe in h-moll, Magnificat and cantatas and Mozart’s messes. In 2019 she gave her first Lieder-Abend in Japan featuring romantic German and Russian repertoire. Currently Maria studies in Royal Conservatory in the Hague being awarded Holland scholarship.
