Guillermo Collazo was born in Salcedo (Pontevedra, Spain) in 1984. At age of 9 he began playing euphonium in the wind-band of his town. After passing the entrance exam he studied at the "Conservatorio Manuel Quiroga de Pontevedra". In 2005 he also began playing tuba. In 2006 he also passed the entrance exams to the "Conservatorio Superior Eduardo Martínez Torner" in Oviedo, where he got his bachelor diploma. He has studied with Manuel Martinez Villar, Alfonso Mollá Castells, Mel Coulbertson and Perry Hoogendijk. He also received master classes from Jens Bjorn-Larsen, Rex Martin, sergio Finca, Steven Mead, José Manuel Redondo, Stephan Labeyrie. In 2009 he traveled to Caracas Venezuela, to participate in “El Sistema” and perform with the Simón Bolivar Youth Orchestra and the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra. He has also performed with the Youth Orchestra from Spain (JONDE) and the National Youth Orchestra (NJO) Next to that he performed with Radio Chamber Orchestra (RKF), NedPho and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. He has had the opportunity to be directed by highly regarded conductors as José Serebier, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos. Mariss Jansons, Cristian Zacharias. Reinbert the Leeuw, Josep Vicent, Pascual Vilaplana and Pablo Gonzalez. He has been a founding member of the "Banda de Tubas de Galicia", and founding member of the “Quorum Brass Quintet”. He has completed his master studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and nowadays is living in Amsterdam as a freelancer.
