Indonesian baritone, Dody Soetanto is currently studying in Conducting with Rob Vermeulen and in Classical Singing Performance with Henny Diemer at Utrecht Conservatory, The Netherlands.
Dody sang in the concerts and opera productions with some Indonesian and Asian leading directors, conductors and musicians, such as Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, Surabaya Symphony Orchestra, Parahyangan Catholic University Choir, Catharina Laimena, Dr.Lee Chong Min, and Avip Priatna.
He has worked with some of the finest teachers and performers in the Netherlands including Rudolf Jansen, Margreet Honig, Vincent de Kort and Hans Schellevis.
During his stay in the Netherlands, Dody has been invited to do some concerts and roles such as Malatesta (Don Pasquale) and Alcindoro (La Bohéme) with De Nationale Reisopera in Resident Artist Program, Smirnov (The Bear) and Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro) with Dutch National Opera Academy, Ben (The Telephone) with Nieuw Kamer Orkest, Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte) and Il Conte (Le Nozze di Figaro) with STUDIO 32 Utrecht in Grachten Festival – Amsterdam.
In July 2013, Dody sang in Reisopera’s production, La Bohéme in Dorset Opera Festival in England.
As a conductor, Dody has been working and giving regular performances with several ensembles in the Netherlands. In 2013, Dody was asked to conduct Groot Omroepkoor in their education projects performing Russian choral works.
