Andrea Vasi (1989) werd geboren te Voorburg, Nederland. Ze begon met pianospelen op zesjarige leeftijd, en werd vier jaar later toegelaten op de ‘School voor Jong Talent’ aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium te Den Haag. Hier studeerde ze bij Marlies van Gent. In deze periode, op veertienjarige leeftijd, won zij de 1e prijs, Persprijs en Publieksprijs tijdens de nationale van het Prinses Christina Concours (als duo met violiste Sumire Hara), en naar aanleiding hiervan trad zij op in Carnegie Hall, New York (VS). Twee jaar later won ze weer, nu als duo met violist Noa Eyl. Weer mocht ze optreden in Carnegie Hall, en werd gevolgd door de televisieserie ‘Jonge mensen op weg naar het concertpodium’ dat werd gepresenteerd door Antonie Kamerling. In datzelfde jaar, 2006, was zij finalist van het Steinway Concours in het Concertgebouw Amsterdam (als soliste). In 2012 won zij, samen met sopraan Ellen Valkenburg, het ‘Musico Liedconcours.’ Andrea maakte tournees door Frankrijk, Zwitserland, Liechtenstein, de VS, Canada, India (met violist Bas Treub en sopraan Nora Fischer) en Argentinië (met violist Maxime Gulikers en sopraan Laetitia Gerards). Veel concerten werden uitgezonden door radio en/of tv. Zij was speciale gast op o.a. het Gergiev Festival (Rotterdam) en het Grachtenfestival (Amsterdam). Na het behalen van haar VWO diploma begon zij haar Bachelor studie aan hetzelfde conservatorium, bij Ellen Corver. Samen met Corver trad zij vaak op, tijdens de Pianosalon serie van het NJO (2009-2013), o.a. de Sonate voor 2 piano’s en slagwerk van Bartók in de grote zaal van de Vereeniging in Nijmegen. Ze speelde ook in de ‘Meester en Gezel’ serie van het Koninklijk Conservatorium, waarin beroemde musici optreden en geïnterviewd worden samen met hun pupil. Na haar Bachelor eindexamen, heeft zij een paar maanden in India doorgebracht als vrijwilliger in weeshuizen (waar zij Engelse les, muziekles en karateles gaf) en volgde boeddhistisch onderricht. Momenteel zit zij in het tweede jaar van de Master opleiding, nog steeds bij Ellen Corver. Als soliste vertolkte zij pianoconcerten van Bach, Grieg, Ravel en Stravinsky, o.a. onder dirigent Etienne Siebens. Ze speelde in vele orkesten en ensembles, ook op synthesizer en klavecimbel. Als lid van het NJO Steve Reich ensemble 2013 (van het NJO), werkte zij samen met Steve Reich en trad op op het Lowlands Festival. Zij volgde zomercursussen in Nederland, Italië en Oostenrijk, en volgde lessen bij o.a. Pascal Nemirovski (Royal Academy of Music, Londen), Boris Petrushansky en Ronald Brautigam (solo). Kamermuzieklessen ontving zij van het Osiris Trio, Philippe Graffin en Jaap van Zweden. Andrea Vasi (1989) was born in Voorburg, the Netherlands. She started playing the piano at age six, and was accepted at the ‘Young Talent School’ of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague four years later. Here she studied with Marlies van Gent. In this period, at the age of fourteen, she won 1st prize, Press prize and the Public award at the national finals of the Princess Christina Competition (as a duo with violinist Sumire Hara), and as a result of this she performed in Carnegie Hall, New York (USA). Two years later, she won again, this time as a duo with violinist Noa Eyl. Again, she performed in Carnegie Hall, and was followed by a Dutch television program called ‘Young Musicians on the way to the concert stage’, presented by Antonie Kamerling. In the same year, 2006, she was a finalist of the Steinway Competition in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam (as a soloist). In 2012, she won the ‘Musico Lied competition’ in Amsterdam, together with soprano Ellen Valkenburg. Andrea made concert tours through France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the USA, Canada, India (with violinist Bas Treub and soprano Nora Fischer) and Argentina (with violinist Maxime Gulikers and soprano Laetitia Gerards). Many of her concerts were broadcasted on radio and/or television. She was a special guest at a.o. the Gergiev Festival (Rotterdam) and the Grachtenfestival (Amsterdam) After graduating high school (VWO), she started her Bachelor of Music studies at the same conservatoire, under prof. Ellen Corver. Together with Corver, she performed regularly, during the Pianosalon series of the NJO (2009-2013), a.o. performing Bartók’s sonata for two piano’s and percussion in the big hall of the Vereeniging in Nijmegen. Also, they played together in the ‘Master and Acquaintance’ series of the Royal Conservatoire, in which famous musicians perform (and are interviewed) together with their pupil. After her Bachelor graduation, she spent some months in India, doing volunteer work in orphanages (giving English, music and karate lessons) and following Buddhist education. Currently she is in the second year of her Master of Music studies, still with prof. Ellen Corver. As a soloist, she performed piano concertos by Bach, Grieg, Ravel and Stravinsky, a.o. under conductor Etienne Siebens. She played in various orchestras and ensembles, also playing the synthesizer and the harpsichord. As a member of the NJO Steve Reich ensemble 2013 (of the NJO), she worked together with Steve Reich and gave a performance at the Lowlands Festival. She attended master courses in the Netherlands, Italy and Austria, and had lessons with a.o. prof. Pascal Nemirovski (Royal Academy of Music, London), Boris Petrushansky and Ronald Brautigam (solo). In chamber music, she had lessons with the Osiris Trio, Philippe Graffin and Jaap van Zweden.
