Nikola Meeuwsen

Nikola Meeuwsen (2002) profiles himself as one of the most remarkable young piano talents in the Netherlands. The Concertgebouw has awarded him the Young Talent Award 2019. NRC called him a talent to keep track of. In 2014, Nikolawon the Royal Concertgebouw Competition and in 2012 the Steinway Competition. On April 24th, AVROTROS presented his debut album with works of Schumann, Scriabin, Brahms and Bach. 

Nikola gives concerts at home and abroad. He recently performed with the Residentie Orkest in the main hall of the Concertgebouw. He gave solo recitals in Milano, Bologna, Triëst, Faro and Imola. Nikola played chamber music with the Matangi Quartet, violinist Alexander Kerr and viola player Vladimir Mendelssohn. He formed a piano duo with Igor Roma, Anna Fedorova, Thomas Beijer and Enrico Pace. 

Nikola Meeuwsen is a welcome guest at festivals. He performed during the Storioni Festival, Kamermuziekfestival Schiermonnikoog, the International Chamber music festival Ede, Festival Classique and at the new Den Haag festival Classical NOW!
 
Nikola Meeuwsen studies at Marlies van Gent and Enrico Pace at the prestigious Accademia Pianista di Imola. Nikola took master classes at Jacques Rouvier, Pavel Gililov MAtti Raekallio, Ruth Nye, Edith Fischer, Jerome Rose and Dominique Merlet. 
 
Horowitz, Schnabel, Sofronitsky, Cziffra, Rubinstein, Lipatti, Sokolov, Pogorelich, Volodos en Gould are the pianists where he preferably listens to. After hearing the third piano concert of Rachmaninov with Vladimir Horowitz, Nikola knew right away he wanted to become a pianist.
