Ensemble

Trio Suleika was founded in 2001 by pianist Maurice Lammerts van Bueren, violinist Frederieke Saeijs and cellist Pepijn Meeuws. Currently, the ensemble consists of pianist Tobias Borsboom, violinist Emmy Storms and cellist Pepijn Meews. As one of the one of the leading piano trio's in the Netherlands, Suleika won the Vriendenkrans of the Concertgebouw and the Kersjesprijs. The repertoire of Trio Suleika combines classical works with less common music, including a growing number commissioned compositions. 

In 2002 - less than a year after its foundation - Trio Suleike won the Vriendenkrans, the audience award ánd the master class prize on the Vriendenkrans Concours at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. In the same period, Suleika took a masterclass at Menahem Pressler of the legendary Beaux Arts Trio. A Bernard Haitink Fund grant then enabled the trio take more classes with Pressler. After Trio Suleika was selected for the national concert series Het Debuut in 2004, it quickly gained a prominent place in Dutch music. In 2007 Trio Suleika received the Kersjesprijs.

Suleika's first CD with recordings from the Concertgebouw's Kleine Zaal was released in 2005. In the same hall, the trio played during the Robeca Zomerconcerten, the international KAM piano trio series, the Sundaymorning Concert, Concertgebouw TRacks and the serieis International Pianotrio's of the Concertgebouw. In 2007, Suleika debuted at the Gergiev Festival in a Carte Noir with poet Ramsey Nasr, to be reclaimed immediately for the next edition. A second CD with works from Dvorak and Rachmaninov  was released in 2008.  

The trio organized "Suleika aan de Amstel" in the Amstelkerk in Amsterdam in 2010, in which Suleika performed with artists such as Frederique Saeijs, Erik Bosgraaf and the Zapp String Quartet. The 2011/2012 season, in which Suleika celebrated its 10th anniversary, was festively opened with the presentation of the CD “Voyage”, with work of Maurice Ravel and Kees Olthuis. Trio Suleika presented the first copy to conductor Yannick Nézèt-Séguin, famous for his Ravel performances. "Voyage" was praised both nationally and international in the press by Volkskrant, NRC, Music Web International and received the highest possible amount of stars for the performance in the magazine Luister. In the same season, the trio premiered the Oorkaan production “The Suleikas en het mysterie van de Gevoelige Snaar” in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, directed by Jochem Stavenuiter. This music performance played about a hundred times during seven seasons in Holland, premiered in French in January 2013 in Paris, and premiered in 2014 in Bruges, Belgium. From 2017 Maurice Lammerts van Bueren was replaced by pianist Maarten den Hengst.

At the invitation of the Rikskonzerter Foundation, Trio Suleika toured around in Sweden. The trio performed in Damascus, and gave master classes at the conservatory there, as part of “Damascus, Cultural Capital of the Arab World.” In France, Suleika played in the chamber music series of Musee d'Orsay, at the Festival Fevis in Paris and the Festival Mille et Une Notes in the Corrèze.
