Ensemble

Rafael is from Brazil and is the band leader of the Rafael Pereira Lima Trio. Together with the influences of the Samba, Jazz and Bossa-Nova, he will provide a summer feeling.

The trio consists of Rafael, Paulinho Paes and Pedro Ivo Ferreira. Rafael is a Samba / Jazz saxophonist specialized in Choro. He completed his Masters in Jazz in 2016 at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen. He has also played with various artists in Europe and in Brazil with, among others, Hermeto Pascoal. Rafael currently lives in Rotterdam and works as a teacher at the EPM Choro School. In the years 2010-2012 he played in the XLJazz orchestra under the direction of composer, arranger, conductor and soloist Martin Fondse.


Born in Juiz de Fora (Brazil), Pedro went looking for the bass guitar at the age of 15. At the age of 21 he moved to Sao Paulo to record his first album and compose with the quartet "In Bloco". In 2012 he was admitted to the Paris conservatory. Pedro has also collaborated with Nefertiti, Anissa Bensalah and Alexandre Gismonti.

Rafael was born in Porto Alegre, in the south of Brazil. He started as a church musician at the age of ten. Subsequently he moved to the United States at the age of sixteen where he played with MCC Jazz Big Band in the Far Away Places Jazz Combo and in the MCC's Improv Band. At the age of 24 he received his bachelor's degree in classical music for saxophone at the UFRGS Brazil Institute of the Arts. He also worked as a saxophone and improvisation teacher for two years at the Federal University of Brazil.
