Øsimun Quartet is een jonge groep saxofonisten die door middel van kamermuziek hun eigen taal willen uitdrukken. De leden Maria Bel Serra (sopraansaxofoon), Fátima Alcázar (altsaxofoon), Inés González (tenorsaxofoon) en Ricard Martínez (baritonsaxofoon) zijn momenteel gevestigd tussen Maastricht (Nederland) en Keulen (Duitsland).
Ze zijn een veelzijdige groep die een breed repertoire bestrijkt. Enerzijds verdiepen ze zich in het originele repertoire voor saxofoonkwartet. Zo konden ze in Nederland het Concerto voor saxofoonkwartet en blazersensemble van David Maslanka in première brengen. Ook werken ze aan transcripties van andere ensembles van de baritonsaxofonist Ricard Martínez van de groep. Ten slotte zijn ze zeer geïnteresseerd in samenwerking met jonge componisten die kunnen leiden tot de creatie van nieuwe werken voor dit ensemble, wat hen heeft geleid tot samenwerking met componisten als Jithu Bas, Nikolas Agrafiotis of Joan Pérez Villegas.
Hun voortdurende zoektocht en ambitie om zich als kamermusicus te blijven ontwikkelen heeft hen in staat gesteld lessen te geven bij docenten als Lars Niederstraßer of Shunske Sato; alsmede concerten te geven in belangrijke zalen in Nederland zoals Muziekgebouw in Eindhoven, Parkstad Limburg Theaters in Heerlen en Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht. Ook waren zij finalisten bij de prestigieuze concoursen Grachtenfestival 2023 in Amsterdam, Big Little Music Competition in Gent en Music Awards Maastricht 2022. Momenteel krijgt het kwartet regelmatig les van Anastasia Safonova en Eva van Grinsven. Sinds kort maken ze deel uit van de Nederlandse Strijkkwartet Academie, waar ze les krijgen van artistiek leider Marc Danel en gastdocenten als leden van de Quator Ébene of Eberhard Feltz.
Øsimun Quartet is a young group of saxophonists who want to express their own language through chamber music. Members Maria Bel Serra (soprano saxophone), Fátima Alcázar (alto saxophone), Inés González (tenor saxophone) and Ricard Martínez (baritone saxophone) are currently based between Maastricht (Netherlands) and Cologne (Germany).
They are a versatile group that covers a wide repertoire. On the one hand, they delve into the original repertoire for saxophone quartet. For example, they were able to premiere the Concerto for saxophone quartet and wind ensemble by David Maslanka in the Netherlands. They are also working on transcriptions of other ensembles by the group's baritone saxophonist Ricard Martínez. Finally, they are very interested in collaborating with young composers that can lead to the creation of new works for this ensemble, which has led them to collaborate with composers such as Jithu Bas, Nikolas Agrafiotis or Joan Pérez Villegas.
Their constant search and ambition to continue to develop as chamber musicians has enabled them to give lessons with teachers such as Lars Niederstraßer or Shunske Sato; as well as giving concerts in important venues in the Netherlands such as Muziekgebouw in Eindhoven, Parkstad Limburg Theaters in Heerlen and Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht. They were also finalists at the prestigious competitions Grachtenfestival 2023 in Amsterdam, Big Little Music Competition in Ghent and Music Awards Maastricht 2022. The quartet is currently regularly taught by Anastasia Safonova and Eva van Grinsven. They recently became part of the Dutch String Quartet Academy, where they are taught by artistic director Marc Danel and guest teachers such as members of the Quator Ébene or Eberhard Feltz.
