Ensemble

This group of young Amsterdam based jazz musicians was brought together by alt saxophonist Mo van der Does. The ensemble plays jazz where adventure is not shunned. The rare line-up without a harmony instrument with which the quartet plays, provides an exciting and challenging collaboration in which improvisation and interaction are central. There is a creative interaction between the freedom and the limitation of this instrumentation, whereby the roles of the different instruments are questioned. Love for artists such as Mark Turner, Ambrose Akinmusire and Ornette Coleman, but also composers such as Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy and Sergei Rachmaninoff connects the musicians. The band members are all given enough space to do justice to their unique musical identity and merge this into one strong band sound. They played at BIMhuis, Uitmarkt, and won the Expression of Art Award 2018 and are selected for InJazz 2019. Their debut album “Common Myths” will be released soon.
