Het Gandhaya Quartet bestaat uit vier musici die elkaar in 2018 leerden kennen terwijl zij studeerden aan het Codarts Conservatorium te Rotterdam. Al vrij snel werd het hun doel om hun verschillende artistieke achtergronden samen te brengen in een bijzonder ensemble. De sound komt in eerste instantie uit Braziliaanse muziek, maar vervolgens brengt elke musicus zijn eigen kleuren uit unieke stijlen en achtergronden mee.
Angelo Ursini uit Brazilië zet een warm en melodisch geluid met een groove neer en dat doet hij op eigen ontworpen verschillende fluiten. Juliano Abromoway ook uit Brazilië brengt juist rijke modale kleuren uit het Midden-Oosten welke hij te danken heeft aan zijn Makan studie. Ze Malandro uit Spanje is een echte groove machine en speelt autentieke ritmes uit Brazilië gecombineerd met de energie van de Andalusische Flamenco en Tarang Poddar uit India begeleidt hen allen op de Tabla, een typisch Indiaas instrument, maar waarop zeker ook Braziliaanse ritmes mogelijk zijn!
Het ensemble heeft een eigen geluid ontwikkeld waarop gedanst kan worden, maar ook zeker alleen naar geluisterd kan worden.

The group of multi-faceted musicians met in the Netherlands, in 2018 while studying at the Codarts Conservatorium with an aim to synergise the different artistic backgrounds each of them offer. Drawing its sound primarily from Brazilian music, the quartet also brings in colours from each of their unique stylistic background.
While Angelo Ursini ( Brazil) sets up the warm, melodic and grooving sound of Brazil, with the various flutes he has spent time developing himself, Juliano Abramoway (Brazil) brings in the rich modal colours from the Middle East, owing to his in depth study of the Makam traditions of the Ottoman and Greek regions. Ze Malandro ( Spain) on percussion is a groove machine, playing authentic rhythms from Brazil combined with the fire like energy from the flamenco tradition on Andalusia. Accompanying them on the Tabla is Tarang Poddar from India, who is an Indian Classically trained tabla player, but has spent his creative time applying the rhythms of Brazil and around the world to the Tabla.
After experimenting like crazy scientists, the ensemble has developed their own sound which offers something for you to dance as well as listen deeply, giving you the best from all around the world!
