Insolitum is een in 2021 opgericht duo met de ongebruikelijke bezetting van trombone en basklarinet bestaande uit trombonist Giordano Mor (1996) en klarinettiste Femke van den Bergh (1998).
Tijdens hun master aan het Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen speelden zij samen in meerdere ensembles waarbij hun interesse werd gewekt om de combinatie van trombone en basklarinet verder uit te pluizen. Beiden zijn het blaasinstrumenten, echter één koperblazer en één houtblazer. Beide instrumenten hebben een geheel eigen timbre, maar wanneer ze samenvloeien creëren zij compleet nieuwe klanken. Het publiek een zorgeloos moment bezorgen, in de concertzaal of op ongebruikelijkere plekken, is waar muziek maken voor dit duo om draait. Zij speelden onder meer op Out-doors Festival 2023 en Aurora Festival 2023. Om het grote facet aan mogelijkheden van de instrumenten te laten horen zal er een heel scala aan muziekstijlen de revue passeren, van (hedendaags) klassiek tot pop en jazz. De keuze van instrumentatie maakt het daarnaast mogelijk om ook tussen het publiek te spelen en “person centered improvisation” te bieden.
Vanwege de uniekheid van deze nog niet eerder bestaande combinatie, is al het repertoire speciaal voor ons gearrangeerd of gecomponeerd. Hierbij wordt nauw samengewerkt met jonge componisten uit binnen en buitenland. Op Grachtenfestival 2023 zullen er meerdere werken in premiere gaan
Insolitum is a duo founded in 2021 with the unusual line-up of trombone and bass clarinet consisting of trombonist Giordano Mor (1996) and clarinettist Femke van den Bergh (1998).
During their master's degree at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, they played together in several ensembles, which aroused their interest in further exploring the combination of trombone and bass clarinet. Both are wind instruments, but one brass and one woodwind. Both instruments have their own timbre, but when they merge they create completely new sounds. Giving the audience a carefree moment, in the concert hall or in more unusual places, is what making music is all about for this duo. They played at Out-doors Festival 2023 and Aurora Festival 2023, among others. To show the wide facet of possibilities of the instruments, a whole range of music styles will be reviewed, from (contemporary) classical to pop and jazz. The choice of instrumentation also makes it possible to play between the audience and to offer “person centered improvisation”.
Due to the uniqueness of this combination that has never existed before, all the repertoire has been arranged or composed especially for us. This involves close collaboration with young composers from the Netherlands and abroad. Several works will premiere at Grachtenfestival 2023.
