Duo Canopée onstond in 2020 toen gitariste Laura Rouy en celliste Pauline Ngolo elkaar ontmoetten. Gedurende hun studies aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam besloten ze om de gemengde geluiden van hun instrumenten te onderzoeken. Duo Canopée probeert het vooropgezette idee te doorbreken dat de gitaar zich beperkt tot een begeleidende rol terwijl de cello zingt. Ze bewijzen dat hun twee instrumenten zowel een harmonische als melodische functie hebben. Dit jonge duo wil gevoelige muziek maken en hun passie voor muziek delen.
Tijdens de zomer van 2021 trad Duo Canopée op in de Auvergne: Saint-Bonnet-le-Chastel en Saint-Germain-l'Herm en in Bourgondië in Dijon, Vauchignon en Roussillon-en-Morvan. In Augustus 2021 nam het duo hun eerste video op in de Galerie des Luthiers in Lyon: "Nocture op.19n°4" van Tchaikovsky in een arrangement van Laura Rouy. In 2022 zet het duo zijn reis verder in Nederland. In Februari weren ze te gast bij radio Concertzender Actueel. Concerten speelden ze in Huis de Pinto, de Oosterkerk en de ambassade van de vrije geest.
The Duo Canopée was born in 2020 from the meeting of two musicians: Laura Rouy (guitarist) and Pauline Ngolo (cellist). While they continue their studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, they decided to explore the mixed sounds of their instruments. The Duo Canopée tries to break the preconceived idea that the guitar is confined to an accompanying role while the cello sings. They prove to us that their two instruments have both a harmonic and melodic function. This young duo wishes to create sensitive musice and share their passion for music.
During the summer of 2021, the Duo Canopée performed in France at several concerts in the Auvergne in Saint-Bonnet-le-Chastel and Saint-Germain-l'Herm; and in Burgundy in Dijon, Vauchignon and Roussillon-en-Morvan. In August 2021, the two musicians recorded their first video "Tchaikovsky, Nocturne op 19 n*4" arranged by Laura Rouy at the Galerie des Luthiers in Lyon. In 2022, the Duo Canopée continues its journey in the Netherlands. In February, Laura Rouy and Pauline Ngolo were invited to the radio programme Concertzender Actueel Nederland. The Duo Canopée also played in concert several times in Amsterdam at the Huis de Pinto, the Oosterkerk in March and at the Embassy of the Free Mind in April.
