‘Traviata remixed’ tells the story of Violetta, a beautiful young woman who was a former courtesan and now spends her days partying. She encounters the flipside of her hedonist lifestyle when she is struck by a bad disease. But then she finds real happiness when she meets a rich young man, Alfredo.
The raw setting of the Zuiveringshal West on the Westergasfabriek is the center stage for the drama between these two young lovers, where they’ll be surrounded by the audience.
Director Lotte de Beer presents with her Operafront a remix of Verdi’s gloriously sad work. Composer Moritz Eggert adapted the original version of ‘La Traviata’ and translated the power of Verdi’s music to the 21st century by using a live DJ and electronic influences. Operafront found a terrific vast for this creative production, with top musicians from the Nationaal Jeugd Orkest under direction of Steven Sloane.
Deze productie is mede mogelijk gemaakt door de bijdragen van FPK, AFK, Ammodo, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds en BankGiro Loterij. Met dank aan de Westergasfabriek.
