Today, the StringWood Ensemble consists of the unusual combination of string quartet with clarinet. They will perform a classical, varied show including composers Mozart, Cras and Finzi.
The Clarinet Quintet by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is surely the evergreen of the clarinet repertoire. A piece that will never bore and something the StringWood Ensemble itself always enjoys playing. Also during the show are a number of movements from the String Trio by Jean Cras. In addition to being a composer, Jean was also an officer in the French Navy and always had his piano embarked on longer services. Finally, they will play five Bagatelles by Gerald Finzi. These bagatelles by Gerald Finzi were not written as a work. They are pieces and ideas that he had kept throughout his life and finally sent as a volume to his publisher in London.
