By bringing Georgia to Amsterdam, a dream of the classically trained pianist Sophiko Simsive will come true. With this concert she will go back to her roots, where song is key. Besides classical music of Georgian composers she will guide you through the history of her beloved homeland with the traditional choir Tvaltai.
‘I was thrilled that the Georgian choir Tvaltai accepted my invitation for a joint performance during my residency. Music plays an important role in the daily life of the Georgians: we celebrate, mourn the loss of our beloveth and comfort each other with folk music. With Tvaltai I shall present auhtentic folk as well as popular Georgian works. Mijn precious Georgian friend Ketevan Roinishvili will play the cello at this concert.’
