Winning the GrachtenfestivalPrijs 2013 meant harpist Remy van Kesteren became Artist in Residence for Grachtenfestival Amsterdam 2014. He was given carte blanche for three concerts, and the result is outstanding. Three entirely different programmes, with three different genres in various combinations. This young musician is seen as one of the most adventurous harpists around. Remy works closely with jazz pianist and composer Martin Fondse, who wrote the music for Remy's new CD Memento. Memento was a joint project with other musicians such as Nora Fischer, Eric Vloeimans and the Mirovia Quartet. “Van Kesteren is a magical virtuoso: each note has presence and colour,” wrote the NRC’s critic Kasper Jansen, in a laudatory review of Memento.
Minimemento is an intimate performance of Remy's CD repertoire, with the works of Villa-Lobos, de Falla and Fondse. Together with his partner and violinist Merel Vercammen, he will perform a very romantic programme in the beautifully renovated Concertgemaal.
