Compositions and operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart are performed for over 250 years in concert halls and opera houses all over the world. Themes like love, jealousy, revenge, battle between the classes and death are timeless. Mozart understood very well that operas are being written by the people, for the people.
The young singers of Opera Zuid, sopranos Anna Emelianova and Veerle Sanders and Rubèn Plantinga (bariton) take you on a musical trip through Mozart’s masterpieces, with highlights from 'Le Nozze di Figaro', 'Don Giovanni', 'Così fan tutte' and 'Die Zauberflöte'.
Stichting Opera Zuid was founded 25 years ago as “a new, professional opera facility for the southern regions of the Netherlands”. First production was ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ by Mozart. 25 years later Opera Zuid will start the new season of 2016/2017 with this very same opera classic.
Opera Zuid started as a production center and turned over the last two and a half decades into an international opera company. Moreover, 10 years ago they iniated an international talent development program and now they are looking forward to the coming 25 years.
