Brazilian saxophonist and flutist Lucas Santana has played in almost every possible ensemble ever since he entered the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2015. There were trios, quartets, quintets and big bands (including Four Tops & Temptations and Metropole Orkest), with whom he covered a wide variety of jazz, blues, soul and Brazilian music.
His quintet is Lucas’ proud. Their first album ‘Reflections’ was released on Zennez Records in April 2021. Lucas was inspired by Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane and Joe Henderson, alongside players like Joshua Redman and Miguel Zenon. His music has an energetic hardbop-vibe, showing his Brazilian roots on all kinds of levels.
