Tonight we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Grachtenfestival! A festive evening that highlights the definition of the festival: a concert with top musicians, classical music, jazz and crossovers, with tearjerkers and bouncers.
In the main hall of the Internationaal Theater Amsterdam we watch and listen to several generations of Grachtenfestival musicians. Former Artists in Residence Raoul Steffani (baritone) and Karin Strobos (mezzo-soprano) will be our guests, and ofcourse our current Artist in Residence, cellist Alexander Warenberg, cannot be missed. Also star oboist Pauline Austria; she performed at the very first Grachtenfestival 25 years ago. Leading jazz musicians can also be heard on this evening: saxophonist and composer Kika Sprangers, who received the 2019 composition commission, among others, and the very young jazz singer and double bass player 14-year-old Jala Heywood show and hear their best. The musicians will be accompanied by the Club Classique Orchestra, formed especially for the festival and led by conductor Joost Geevers. Enjoy works from Bach to Tchaikovsky, from operetta to Kika Sprangers' own work.
Ticket sales run through the website of Internationaal Theater Amsterdam.
