Although the marimba as we know it has only found its way into the world of percussion in the last 100 years, the trio also performs pieces that were already composed in the early 18th century. The reason: Bach's organ sonatas work incredibly well when played on three marimbas. Quatre-mains pieces are also suitable, such as Schubert's Fantasie in F minor, which has also previously appeared as an orchestral version, but has never been performed on marimbas before.
In the late 19th century Alexander Borodin wrote the opera Prince Igor, which due to his death was later completed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Glazunov. From this the Polovtsian Dances are very well known, often played on its own, will now be performed by 3 marimbas. The classical repertoire is interspersed with minimal music by Steve Reich and Philip Glass. The pieces by Guo Wenjing, Eugene Novotney and François Tashdjian are a true contrast to the rest of the program.
