The Zemtsov Viola Quartet will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2020! The quartet was created during the Grachtenfestival 2010 in response to the series 'Musical families', and consists of father (Mikhail), mother (Julia), daughter (Dana) and nephew (Daniil) Zemtsov, four viola virtuosos.
Especially for this concert, composer Leo Samama, a great expert and lover of the viola, wrote a piece for the Zemtsovs. Samama about his new composition 'Fantasie': "In 2019 I had edited An American in Paris by Gershwin for flute toet and for my lectures I immersed myself in Tristan und Isolde. In short, Tristan and George remained 'whining' in my head. In the case of Tristan, it mainly concerns the harmonies, the chromaticism. From Gershwin I took over the 'walking', the promenade, as a moment of relaxation between all the intensity. Finally, I also have the versatility in this ensemble work for several violas. of the instrument, the different characters are raised. In line with the characters of the members of the quartet! "
Piazzolla and Werkman are also on the program. Party with the Zemtsov family!
