In the beautiful Van Houten church in Weesp, Club Classique plays together with cellist Julia Tom the monumental String Quintet in C by Franz Schubert. The 31-year-old Schubert wrote the last notes of this quintet, for the special occupation of string quartet with an extra cello, two months before his death. The work is to this day one of the most loved works in chamber music; intimacy is interspersed with orchestral sounds, melancholy gives way to hope at times. The second part, the heartbreaking Adagio, touches you from the first to the last note deep into your soul.
The young strings of Club Classique join forces for this concert with Julia Tom, cellist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and resident of Weesp.
