A joyful fact: for the fifth time the Grachtenfestival, Forteiland Pampus and the NMF (National Musical Instrument Fund) are joining forces for a 'canal concert' on the fortress island. Pampus, located in the IJmeer, is the figurehead of the Stelling van Amsterdam and therefore UNESCO World Heritage. Half-hidden on the small, man-made island, lies a gigantic fortress which is partly a museum and offers adventuristic opportunities. Ideal for a great day out and a great location for a concert. This year you will hear viola player Iteke Wijbenga and cellist Octavie Dostaler-Lalonde. Maybe they already play something on the boat when you travel to Pampus?
Octavie Dostaler-Lalonde (cellist) is a versatile musician whose repertoire varies from the late 17th to the 20th century. She researches and uses techniques and instruments that were applied at the time the music was composed. Iteke Wijbenga is active as a viola player in chamber music, in orchestras and as a soloist. In addition to modern viola, she also likes to play in an authentic (baroque) setting. As a teacher, she assists Sven Arne Tepl at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
Included in the price is transport from Amsterdam with the Sailboa, the entrance fee for Fort Pampus with the experience routes The Story of Pampus and The Secret Weapon of Amsterdam and of course the entrance to the concert. If you want to finish it all off, you could also book the matching lunch that Island Chef Jurre has put together especially for the Grachtenfestival.
