In cooperation with Vondelpark Openluchttheater the Grachtenfestival presents the winners of the Vakjuryprijs and Publieksprijs of the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours 2018, together with other finalists.
Tuba player Matthijs Leffers (Prins Claus Conservatorium) has been declared winner of the 15th Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours by the jury. "Matthijs is a musician with a souvereign presence on stage. He is not fretting about the opinion of others. With a lot of love for his instrument he enthuses the audience as well as his fellow musicians. The variety of his program reflects the variety of the tuba,” according to the jury about the performance of Matthijs at the finals. Duo IKT, consisting of Janina Lorenci (saxophone) and Lola Mla?nik (percusison), of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam was awarded the Publieksprijs.
Other finalists to perform are cellist Rebecca Firkins, singer Linda Vink and the Altéide Quintet.
Since 2003 the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours offers the most talented students on Dutch conservatoria a great opportunity to perform for a wide audience. All conservatoria in the country show what they’ve got and each year they deliver the best students for the national qualifying rounds.
