How to get to the core of tango when you’re from a rainy, cold country like the Netherlands? By understanding what the Argentinean poets have tried to tell us, according to these musicians: Wiesje Nuiver (violin), Vincent van Amsterdam (accordion), James Oesi (double bass) and Sterre Konijn (vocals). They present an experimenting tango program with songs from Buenos Aires, especially for the Grachtenfestival translated in Dutch.
Listen to the story of the little boy who sells roses on the street, or the story about Maria the prostitute who knows every alley in Buenos Aires and wraps men around her finger, about the poet Alfonsina, lying on the bottom of the ocean and lulled into sleep by sea horses. Try to imagine the lost birds and the joy of madness. Listen to the wonderful instrumental tango classics by Piazzolla and Zabales and imagine yourself in a home in Argentina.
The bar will stay open at this South American evening in De Tuin van de Tolhuistuin!
De serie Club Grachtenfestival wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt door Stichting Steun Programmering Grachtenfestival.
