An opera, with a story line composed of fragments of 500 years worth of opera history, like Mozart’s 'Die Zauberflöte', Händel’s 'Giulio Cesare' and Wagner’s 'Tannhäuser', mixed with arias that were composed especially fort his opera. That is 'Be With Me Now', the story of a young man travelling through Europe to see the places he once visited with his loved one. He hopes to ease the pain of the separation of his far and away lover by returning to these places.
In 'Be With Me Now' (in cooperation with De Nationale Opera talent) the protagonists take the audience on a voyage along five places of musical myth, using arias and video. It is a true Expedition, in which the young talent of European opera will show us their brilliance. One of them is Dutch soprano Maartje Rammeloo, who is a nominee for the GrachtenfestivalPrijs 2015.
Under the musical direction of Dutch conductor MaNOj Kamps, this unique opera will premiere during the Festival d’Aix, in cooperation with ENOA, the European Network of Opera Academies. In the Netherlands, this piece will be performed exclusively at Grachtenfestival Amsterdam. And what better venue for this production than the Grote Zaal in Pathé Tuschinski?
