Violinist Elise Besemer, cellist Ella van Poucke and bariton Michael Wilmering have been nominated this year for the GrachtenfestivalPrijs. It will be awarded on Wednesday 16 August at the Avond van de GrachtenfestivalPrijs in the Wintertuin of Hotel Krasnapolsky.
The GrachtenfestivalPrijs is awarded by an expert jury, consisting of Dutch classical music journalist Frederike Berntsen (Trouw), Biella Luttmer (de Volkskrant), and Joep Stapel (NRC Handelsblad). They will nominate musicians and ensembles who excell on their own field. Being nominated is a great incentive for their careers and thus an award by itself. The nominees will be monitored by the jury for an entire season, and the GrachtenfestivalPrijs will be awarded to the most remarkable musician or ensemble. The jury grants the winner carte blanche as Artist in Residence at the next Grachtenfestival to select a versatile and challenging program.
During the ceremony of the GrachtenfestivalPrijs the Grachtenfestival presents all nominees, who wille each give a short performance. Hosted by Ab Nieuwdorp of NPO Radio 4.
