The 3violas consists of the three young, energetic viola players Hessel Moeselaar, Floris Faber and Geerten Feller. The gentlemen got to know each other at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and found each other in their shared passion for classical, jazz, pop and film music. The ensemble is known for its own swinging arrangements of music by grandmasters such as Rachmaninoff. The 3 Violas are a welcome guest at the Grachtenfestival: in recent years they have been heard throughout Amsterdam, from the ferry on the IJ to Strand Zuid. On August 13 they play a surprising program with their own arrangements of classical composers such as Shostakovich and Rachmaninoff, but also minimal, film and pop music.
