Muziekkapellen Estafette: Ori Ron

Sunday Morning Concert Featuring the Music of Bach

Cellist Ori Ron brings together Bach, jazz and contemporary music in this imaginative programme. Excerpts from Bach’s cello suites are interwoven with Ron’s own Songbook Suite, in which jazz standards such as My Funny Valentine and All the Things You Are serve as the point of departure for new musical explorations. The programme also features works by Matthias Bartolomey and Bastien David, both of whom employ the cello as a rhythmic, percussive and almost orchestral instrument.

Ori Ron won third prize at the 2024 Cello Biennale Amsterdam, as well as the award for the best performance of the compulsory work by Matthias Bartolomey. He is rapidly establishing himself as both a cellist and composer, with new commissions and premieres in the Netherlands and abroad. As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras in Israel and the Netherlands, and he is a member of the Martin String Quartet, with which he participates in the Dutch Classical Talent tour.

This concert is part of the Muziekkapellen Estafette. In collaboration with Stichting Muziekkapellen.
