Meesterlijk! Hadewych van Gent

Hadewych van Gent, cellist and singer, showcases the very best of herself this evening. She both sings and plays works by composers such as Cassadó and Vasks, including the latter’s powerful Grāmata čellam. A standout from an early age with Coosje Wijzenbeek’s Fancy Fiddlers, she recently completed her master’s degree with distinction at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Her debut album Voice and contribution to Sheku Kanneh-Mason’s Song make it clear: this is a unique and multifaceted musical talent.

In the Meesterlijk! series, three young talents nominated for the Grachtenfestival Prize each present their own evening. They showcase their versatility and compete for the title, with the winner becoming next year’s Artist in Residence.
